Halifax Tea Festival

Light Tea Nog

Makes 12 servings.

Ingredients

3

Black tea bags

1/3 cup (75 mL)

granulated sugar

1/2 tsp (2 mL)

ground nutmeg

2 cups (500 mL)

2% milk

1/2 cup (125 mL)

egg whites

1 tsp (5 mL)

vanilla

1/2 cup

rum or brandy (optional)

Directions

Place tea bags in a teapot and cover with 3 cups (750 mL) boiling water.

Stir, cover and steep for 5 minutes.

Remove teabags and stir in sugar and nutmeg.

Add milk to the tea mixture.

Refridgerate until cold.

Transfer to a blender and add egg whites and vanilla.

Blend on high for 45 to 60 seconds.

Stir in rum or brandy if using.

Serve immediately or if making ahead of time, blend again before serving.
